A Conference visa is granted to a foreigner whose sole objective of visiting India to attend an international conference / seminar or workshop being held in India. For Business meetings, to discuss business matters of a particular company/ organization and Board meetings, a foreigner may obtain either a Business Visa or e-Business Visa. Conference Visa shall not be issued for events which involve politically and/ or socially sensitive subjects.

Conference visa will be granted to delegates on production of an invitation letter from the organizer(s), a copy of Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreigners Division) clearance for holding the conference and a copy of the communication from the Ministry of External Affairs conveying political clearance.

Prior clearance of the Ministry of Home Affairs for holding conference/seminar will be required if the event has participants from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistani origin and Stateless persons; and if participants of conferences /seminars/workshops who are required to visit ‘Restricted' or 'Protected' areas in India.
