Registration of birth of a Canada born child of Indian parents

Procedure for Registration of birth of a child of Indian parents is explained on the public domain of Ministry of Home Affairs of India here. 

Bring the following to Consulate between 9:30 – 11:30 am in-person on any working day:

Duly completed and signed Print out of above online filled-in application

All required documents as mentioned in above mentioned link i.e.  

  • A copy of the Canadian birth certificate of the child with name of parent(s) printed on it
  • A copy of the passport of both the parents (front and back page)
  • A copy of the certificate of Indian citizenship if acquired by registration/naturalization
  • A copy of the marriage certificate of the parents
  • Declaration letter that the child does not hold the passport of any other country.
  • Duly Filled-in Misc Service Form
  • Status Proof of parents in Canada (PR/Work Permit/Visitor/Study/other)
  • Address Proof in Canada (Utility bill/driving license/Provincial ID/rental agreement any one)
  • A fee of CAD $17 can be paid in-person at the Consulate through Debit card
  • In addition to birth registration of Canada born child of Indian parents, fresh passport application of the child with applicable fee should be submitted with birth registration application at the Consulate. Notarized Affidavit from both parents for not holding/applying of foreign passport/foreign nationality for the child to whom passport application is submitted is also required. Information on fresh passport for a child is available under passport services.
