Consulate General of India, Toronto issues Life Certificates for pension and non pension purposes.

 

Step 1- Please arrange the following documents:

  • Duly filled in application form - To be submitted in duplicate.

  • Copy of the first and last page of valid Indian passport or copy of first page of valid Canadian passport, as applicable.
  • Fee:
    • For Life certificate for pension purpose- Consulate issues one life certificate for pension free of any fee/charges. Any Life certificate copy in addition to the first certificate, will be charged at the same rate as that of a Life certificate for non-pensionary purpose as detailed at https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/page/fee/ . The fee will be payable by debit card or demand draft issued in favor of "Consulate General of India, Toronto"
    • For Life certificate for non-pensionary purpose- please refer to https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/page/fee/ . The fee is payable by debit card or demand draft issued in favor of "Consulate General of India, Toronto"

 

Step 2- Submission of application:

a. Life Certificate for pension purpose-

  • The applicant can submit the application in-person at the Consulate (Suite 700, 365 Bloor Street East, Toronto, M4W 3L4) between 0900-1230 hrs on any working day (Mon-Fri, excluding gazetted holidays). In case the applicant is unable come in person due to medical reasons, any family member can come with the application and a medical report clarifying the inability of the applicant to visit the Consulate in person. 
  • Applicants living outside GTA area can send the application by post to the Consulate at "Consulate General of India, Toronto Suite 700, 365 Bloor Street East, Toronto, M4W 3L4". Applicants are required to send a pre-paid return envelope with the application to allow the Consulate to send back the attested application. Please make sure to provide a phone number in the application form where the Consulate can make a video call to verify the applicant.

b. Life Certificate for non-pension purpose-

  • All applications are required to be submitted at a BLS center. In case the applicant is unable come in person due to medical reasons, any family member can come with the application and a medical report clarifying the inability of the applicant to visit in person. 
  • Applicants living outside GTA area can send the application by post to the nearest BLS center. Please see https://www.blsindia-canada.com/toronto-jurisdiction/attestation_services.php and make sure to provide a phone number in the application form where the Consulate can make a video call to verify the applicant.
